Overview of E.SUN's Natural Environment Initiatives

E.SUN is committed to supporting the global Convention on Biological Diversity and advancing sustainable ecological development in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 13: Climate Action; SDG14: Life Below Water; SDG 15: Life on Land). Our natural environment and biodiversity strategy is centered on three core pillars: species conservation, habitat preservation, and environmental sustainability. Taking initiative from within, we proactively respond to both international and domestic environmental sustainability advocacies.
In 2022, we voluntarily joined the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and, in 2023, joined the TNFD Early Adopters. In November 2024, E.SUN released the "2023 Climate and Nature Report", which is the first report in Taiwan to achieve the highest grade of "Level 5: Excellence" from the British Standards Institute (BSI) for TNFD conformity, demonstrating our continued progress toward realizing the vision of living in harmony with nature.

Project

Sea Turtle Conservation Project

Since 2019, we have cooperated with the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium(NMMBA) on the "Sea Turtle Conservation Project."

Polar Bear Environmental Education Project

Since 2020, we have Cooperate with the National Museum of Natural Science to conduct a series of polar bear conservation activities.

Formosan Black Bear Conservation Project

Since 2012, E.SUN FHC has been working with Taipei Zoo to promote a series of black bear conservation activities. In 2014 we launched the Black Bear Affinity Card and invited our customers to support the conservation of Taiwan's native species.

E.SUN–NTU ESG Centenary Project

Since 2022, E.SUN FHC collaborated with NTU to set a 10 year plan to plant 100,000 native conifers such as the Taiwan Red Cypress, Formosan Hinoki, Cryptomeria-like Taiwania, Taiwan Incense Cedar, and Formosan China-fir in the Yushan mountain range, totaling 50 hectares in area. After selective thinning, 25,000 trees will be kept to grow over a century, laying the foundation for soil and water conservation.

E.SUN Maravi Rice

Since 2014, we have cooperated with the Yushan National Park Management Bureau and Zexin Organic Agriculture Foundation on the"E.SUN Malawi Rice Project". to encourage local farmers to adopt organic agriculture to achieve sustainable food production and protect biodiversity. The Kikuchi minnow, an endangered native fish, was also found in the rice fields.

"Beautiful Taiwan, Smiling E.SUN" environmental cleanup activity

Since 2010, we have held the annual "Beautiful Taiwan, Smiling E.SUN" environmental cleanup and beach cleaning activity. In response to World Cleanup Day, we organize environmental cleanups and beach cleanings around our business locations from September to November. Through concrete actions, we aim to reduce plastic waste and protect our beautiful home.

Adopting trails in Yushan National Park

Since 2008, We have adopted and maintained 260km of trails in Yushan National Park. We use this opportunity to promote conservation and environmental education, and encourage E.SUN employees to participate and work together to protect the environment.

"Plant a tree, Plant a life" E.SUN plant trees project

Since 2019, we have worked with the Ministry of Agriculture's Forestry and Conservation Service to plant saplings of native tree species in national forests and coastal forests. 10,000 Taiwanese native tree saplings are planted every year. Through our efforts, we enrich local biodiversity and promote environmental sustainability.
