MSCI announced 2019 MSCI ESG Ratings of companies in the MSCI ACWI Index. E.SUN FHC ranked 1st in Taiwan's financial industry for three consecutive years with an AA rating, and is the only financial institution in Taiwan to receive this honor. Only 218 publicly listed banks worldwide were selected into the rating evaluation this year, and an AA rating means being in the top 10% in the world. E.SUN not only achieved the best performance in Taiwan's financial industry, but also tied for the highest rating in Taiwan along with four other companies in the MSCI Taiwan Index.
Evaluation standards for the MSCI ESG Ratings include environmental protection, CSR, corporate governance. MSCI determines the ESG performance and risk management ability of over 2,800 public companies, and rates them from AAA to CCC, in hopes that tracking leading companies with corporate sustainability concepts will encourage companies to take sustainable development issues more seriously, while giving consideration to long-term risk management. Hence, it is an important index that investors worldwide reference when making sustainable investments. The MSCI ESG Ratings report pointed out that E.SUN has remained above average in the global industry for many years with respect to corporate governance, talent cultivation, financial product safety, and influence on the financial environment. E.SUN’s strategy development is linked to the UN's 17 SDGs, and it not only actively signed the EPs, but is also the largest issuing bank of NTD-denominated green bonds in Taiwan. E.SUN referenced the UN's principles for responsible investment (PRI) for its investment strategy, and incorporated ESG issues into its investment analysis and decision-making process, in order to have a positive effect on the economy, society, and environment.
E.SUN's sustainability efforts have been highly recognized by international evaluations, including being selected into the DJSI Emerging Markets Index for six consecutive years, the DJSI World Index for four times, the FTSE 4 Good Emerging Index for the second time, and winning the Platinum Award, the highest honor in the Asian Enterprise Outstanding Corporate Governance and CSR Award, from The Asset for ten consecutive years. With regard to evaluations conducted in Taiwan, E.SUN was ranked first in the financial industry in the Commonwealth Corporate Citizen Awards 12 times; won the First Prize in the Global Views Corporate Social Responsibility Award "Financial Industry Model" category for 3 consecutive years, and was ranked in the top 5% in the Corporate Governance Evaluation hosted by the TWSE for 5 consecutive years.
