Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), setting
a record for Taiwan’s banking sector

E.SUN FHC delivered excellent performances again in the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) review announced on September 7, 2017, enabling E.SUN to stand out from the crowd of approximately 3,500 enterprise candidates worldwide. E.SUN FHC also becomes the new industry benchmark as the financial institution in Taiwan to be listed as a DJSI Emerging Markets constituent stock for four consecutive years.

Every year, the DJSI adds and adjusts rating categories in accordance with international ESG trends. This year, DJSI included the categories of Human Rights, Policy Influence, and Impact Measurement & Valuation in the review. E.SUN’s performance in all 25 categories was superior to industry average, particularly in the two aspects of human resource management and integrity management, both of which received the highest score in the world. This achievement highlights E.SUN's long-time commitment in integrity management and in continuously improving its human resources, efforts that have in turn enabled E.SUN to become a major player in the global financial market.

Collaboration between S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM, DJSI aims at tracking leading international corporations that support sustainable development. DJSI inspires these corporations to focus on sustainable development issues in their business operations while taking into account long-term risk management. DJSI is a crucial referential indicator for global investors engaging in sustainable investment. A total of 318 corporations across the globe have been included in the DJSI, but only 28 are corporations in the banking sector.

This year, E.SUN has performed superbly in a wide range of domestic and international sustainability evaluations, obtaining the highest scores in the banking sector of Taiwan on the following international indicators: MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes, FTSE 4 Good Emerging Index, and Bloomberg ESG. Regarding ratings conducted in Taiwan, E.SUN was ranked first in the banking sector in the Commonwealth Corporate Citizen Awards. It won the First Prize again in the Global Views Corporate Social Responsibility Award “Financial Industry Model” category, and was ranked among top 5% in the Corporate Governance Evaluation hosted by the TWSE for 3 consecutive years.
